Purelist is a writing app for iOS and macOS that lets you jot down text as lists.
Lists have long been a familiar format for many people, so rather than drastically changing the form, I aimed for a UI that respects that universal shape and quietly supports the user.
Checked items automatically move to the bottom and are shown in a slightly lighter text color. Users can also choose whether to give a list a title, so they can control how information appears to suit the way they use it.
I carefully balanced how features are surfaced against visibility so that unnecessary elements don't crowd the view.
By holding firmly to the traditional form of a list while carefully building up the fine details of the specs and display, I achieved a rich UX within simplicity.
