Conecast is an iOS weather app where an ice cream illustration changes with the temperature.
Because it's an app people open every day, I wanted it to do more than deliver information — I wanted it to lift your mood, even a little.
Rather than conveying weather and temperature only as numbers, I designed it as a slightly playful weather app that you take in visually and emotionally.
In the app, how much the ice cream has melted changes with the temperature. I prepared several illustration patterns and switch between them by temperature range, so the feel of the day comes across intuitively, not just as a number.
Animation is used for the weather information; I prototyped it with Figma's Smart Animate and built it with Lottie. Data comes from Core Location and WeatherKit, and the UI is built with SwiftUI.
Users can switch the theme color, and the illustrations and color scheme, based on the motif of a cone, change dynamically to match the theme.
For the home screen widget, I deliberately stepped away from the typical weather app look and gave it the presence of a signboard, so it's fun to have on your screen.
Logo↓
For the logo, I used the half-melted ice cream illustration from the app. I felt that a slightly collapsed form captured the character of this app better than a neat one.
For the typeface, I chose a script with soft curves to express a classic feel and the sense of something slowly melting.
